Tulane is located in the vibrant Uptown part of New Orleans and across the street from Audubon Park and is fully integrated into the surrounding city. The campus is beautiful mix of old and new buildings and a very manageable size. Tulane has a diverse undergraduate student body of 6600 who come from all over the US. Service is huge at Tulane. It has been a required component in the curriculum ever since Hurricane Katrina and it is one of the factors that make Tulane such a special place. Tulane was the first major research university to add public service to it’s curriculum. There are over 70 different majors and more than 30% of students double major. Students can take classes in all schools and programs as undergrads.
With tuition and room and board set at around $55,510 for the 2014-2015 school year, Tulane is pricey. Tulane, however, is known for being generous with its money and fully 77% of the freshman class receives financial aid. The average financial award is more than $34,000. The Reily Recreation Center is a brand new, large workout facility with all the latest equipment, pools, basketball courts, indoor track etc. plus plenty of exercise and yoga classes for students. The addition of a brand new football stadium on campus scheduled for completion for fall 2014 will provide the opportunity to improve on the school’s lackluster team spirit.
Tulane offers wonderful graduate school opportunities as well as unique combined programs. For example, if you are interested in medical school or law school, Tulane undergraduates have a 90% acceptance rate to both Tulane medical school and law school.
