college counseling in chicago and suburbsWith Spring break rapidly approaching, do not despair if you have not made plans for your student’s week off of school.   For high school juniors, this is the best time to visit colleges.   Whether you have only 1 or 2 days or the whole week, it is great to devote this time to beginning the college search in earnest.   If you are limited to a short time, a visit to some colleges in the area can help your student start to look for things he/she likes and dislikes in a college. If you have longer, a college road trip is the best way to see a number of schools in a short time.  Between the two of us, we have loads of experience with college road trips.  Launch College Counseling is happy to help you plan your road trip.  We have all kinds of information at our fingertips including handouts to help your student evaluate each college he/she visits.  Once you make a decision to visit, do not forget to go online and sign up for an information session as well as a tour.   This step is very important, especially at colleges your child is most interested in.  Colleges look for “demonstrated interest” in making admissions decision.   The best way you can show demonstrated interest is to visit in person and attend the info session and tour.
